  • Author: Rafael
  • Total Time: 27 minutes
  • Yield: 6-8 servings 1x

Description

Delicious and spicy Bang Bang Chicken Skewers made with tender boneless chicken breasts marinated in a flavorful blend of spices and coated with a creamy, sweet, and spicy bang bang sauce. Cooked to perfection in an air fryer for a crispy exterior and juicy interior, these skewers are perfect as a quick appetizer or a tasty main dish.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Seasoning

  • Wooden skewers, soaked in water for 30 minutes
  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Bang Bang Sauce

  • 1 ¼ cups (290 g) mayonnaise
  • ⅔ cup Thai sweet chili sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Sriracha (or more to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons honey

Instructions

  1. Toss chicken with seasonings: In a large bowl, combine the cubed chicken breasts, olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, kosher salt, and black pepper. Toss well to evenly coat all pieces of chicken with the seasoning mixture.
  2. Thread chicken onto skewers: Working with one skewer at a time, thread 4-5 pieces of the seasoned chicken cubes onto each soaked wooden skewer, arranging the pieces evenly.
  3. Make bang bang sauce: In a separate small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, Thai sweet chili sauce, Sriracha, and honey. Mix thoroughly until the sauce is smooth and well blended, yielding about 1 ¾ cups of sauce.
  4. Brush sauce over chicken: Divide the bang bang sauce in half; pour half into another bowl and set aside to use after cooking. Brush the remaining half generously over all the chicken skewers, coating them thoroughly.
  5. Air fry the chicken skewers: Place the coated chicken skewers into the air fryer basket in a single layer to ensure even cooking. Depending on your air fryer size, you may need to cook in batches. Air fry at 400°F (204°C) for 11-12 minutes, flipping the skewers halfway through the cooking time to get an even crisp and golden color. Use a thermometer to check that the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C), ensuring it is fully cooked.
  6. Drizzle cooked chicken with reserved sauce: Once cooked, transfer the chicken skewers to a serving plate. Drizzle or brush the reserved bang bang sauce over the hot skewers for an extra burst of flavor. Serve immediately while hot and enjoy your flavorful Bang Bang Chicken Skewers.

Notes

  • Soak wooden skewers in water for at least 30 minutes before threading chicken to prevent burning during air frying.
  • You can adjust the Sriracha quantity to make the sauce spicier or milder according to your taste preferences.
  • If you don’t have an air fryer, these skewers can also be cooked under a broiler or on a grill, turning them frequently to avoid charring.
  • Ensure chicken pieces are uniformly sized for even cooking on the skewers.
  • Use a meat thermometer to guarantee the chicken is safely cooked to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
