  • Author: Rafael
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A savory and indulgent Cheesesteak-Stuffed Garlic Loaf featuring tender flank steak, sautéed bell peppers and onions, melted provolone cheese, and fresh garlic, all baked inside a crusty French bread loaf for a perfect handheld meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 French bread loaf (16 oz)
  • 8 oz thinly sliced flank steak
  • 1 cup provolone cheese, shredded
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 cup sliced bell peppers (mixed colors)
  • 1 cup sliced sweet onions
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare it for baking the stuffed loaf.
  2. Sauté Vegetables: In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Sauté the sliced onions and bell peppers until they are soft and fragrant, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Cook Steak: Push the vegetables to the side of the skillet. Add the thinly sliced flank steak, seasoned with salt and pepper. Cook until the steak is browned, approximately 3-5 minutes.
  4. Prepare Bread: Slice the French bread loaf lengthwise down the middle. Carefully scoop out some of the soft bread from the center, creating space to hold the filling.
  5. Assemble Filling: Combine the cooked steak and sautéed vegetables with the minced garlic and shredded provolone cheese. Mix well and spoon this mixture generously into each half of the hollowed-out bread loaf.
  6. Bake: Place the stuffed bread halves on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

  • You can substitute flank steak with ribeye or sirloin for a richer flavor.
  • Use fresh garlic for the best aroma and taste; roasted garlic can add a sweeter flavor.
  • If you prefer a spicier version, add sliced jalapeños or a pinch of red pepper flakes to the filling.
  • Allow the stuffed bread to rest for a few minutes after baking to avoid burning your mouth on the hot cheese.
  • This recipe can be halved or doubled depending on the number of servings needed.
