Description

These Florida Orange Rolls combine the sweet and tangy flavor of fresh Florida orange marmalade with a soft, buttery dough to create a delightful breakfast or dessert treat. The rolls are topped with a luscious orange glaze that enhances their citrusy appeal, perfect for a sunny morning or a special occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Orange Roll Filling

  • ½ cup Florida Orange Juice Marmalade
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • Refrigerated dough (enough for a standard roll recipe, about 1 lb)

Florida Orange Glaze

  • ¼ cup Florida Orange Juice
  • 1 lb powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp melted butter
  • ¼ cup milk
  • A dash of salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: Roll out the refrigerated dough into a long rectangle shape, ensuring it is evenly rolled for consistent thickness.
  2. Add the marmalade: Spread the Florida Orange Juice Marmalade evenly over the dough, making sure to cover the entire surface for full flavor in each bite.
  3. Sprinkle the filling: Pour the melted butter evenly over the marmalade, then sprinkle the brown sugar and kosher salt across the surface to create a sweet and slightly salty filling.
  4. Roll the dough: Starting at the long side farthest from you, carefully roll the dough toward yourself, keeping it tight and even; pinch the edges to seal the roll to prevent filling from leaking during baking.
  5. Slice the rolls: Cut the rolled dough into 1 to 1 ½ inch thick slices, placing each into a buttered baking pan to prevent sticking and aid browning.
  6. Let rolls rise: Allow the cut rolls to rise for at least 20 minutes at room temperature, enabling a light and fluffy texture when baked.
  7. Preheat oven: While the rolls are rising, preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) so it’s ready for baking.
  8. Bake the rolls: Place the risen rolls in the oven and bake for 15 to 18 minutes until they are golden brown but not overly browned to avoid bitterness.
  9. Make the glaze: During baking, mix together Florida Orange Juice, powdered sugar, melted butter, milk, and a dash of salt until smooth to create the signature Florida Orange Glaze.
  10. Glaze the rolls: As soon as the rolls come out of the oven, immediately drizzle the fresh orange glaze over the warm rolls to soak in the sweet citrus flavor.
  11. Serve: Serve the rolls warm or at room temperature for the best taste and texture.

Notes

  • You can substitute refrigerated dough with homemade sweet roll dough if preferred.
  • Ensure rolls are sliced evenly to promote uniform baking.
  • The glaze sets quickly, so pour it over the rolls right after baking.
  • Store leftover rolls in an airtight container; reheat gently before serving to retain softness.
  • For a more intense orange flavor, use fresh Florida orange juice in the glaze.
