  • Author: Rafael
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

These French Dip Tortilla Roll Ups combine thinly sliced roast beef and melted cheese wrapped in warm tortillas, baked to golden perfection, and served with a flavorful homemade au jus for dipping. A delightful twist on the classic French dip sandwich, perfect for a comforting appetizer or a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Roll Ups

  • 1 lb thinly sliced roast beef (deli style or leftover)
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley

Au Jus

  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prepare for baking the roll ups.
  2. Assemble Roll Ups: Lay each flour tortilla flat on a surface. Layer thinly sliced roast beef and shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese down the center of each tortilla evenly.
  3. Roll the Tortillas: Roll each tortilla tightly around the filling and place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet to prevent unrolling during baking.
  4. Season and Add Butter: Brush the tops of the rolled tortillas with melted butter, then sprinkle evenly with garlic powder, onion powder, and dried parsley for added flavor and a golden finish.
  5. Bake: Bake the tortilla roll ups in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes, or until the tortillas turn golden brown and the cheese inside is melted.
  6. Prepare Au Jus: While the roll ups bake, combine beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5–7 minutes to develop rich flavors.
  7. Slice and Serve: Remove the roll ups from the oven and slice them into bite-sized pieces. Serve warm alongside the hot au jus for dipping, enhancing each savory bite.

Notes

  • Use thinly sliced roast beef, either deli style or leftover, for the best texture.
  • Substitute mozzarella with provolone for a slightly sharper cheese flavor.
  • For a crispier exterior, broil the roll ups for 1-2 minutes after baking, watching carefully to avoid burning.
  • The au jus can be prepared ahead and warmed just before serving.
  • Adjust salt and pepper in the au jus according to your taste preference.
