Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bread: Carefully remove crusts from bread slices. Flatten each slice with a rolling pin until about 1/16 to 1/8 inch thick, rolling in multiple directions for even thinness.
  2. Add the Cheese: Trim cheese slices if needed to fit bread edges. Place cheese along one edge of flattened bread, leaving a small border. Sprinkle optional paprika or herbs if using.
  3. Roll ‘Em Up: Starting at cheese edge, tightly roll the bread into a compact cylinder. Pinch seam or place seam-side down to keep rolls intact.
  4. Butter the Rolls: Either brush rolls with melted butter or spread softened butter evenly over exterior surfaces.
  5. Grill to Perfection: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-low to medium heat. Place rolls seam-side down, cook 2-4 minutes until golden and crispy. Turn rolls every 1-2 minutes until all sides are browned and cheese is melted, total about 5-8 minutes.
  6. Serve Immediately: Remove from skillet and serve hot to enjoy crispy bread and gooey cheese.
