Stove Top Stuffing Meatloaf Recipe

  • Author: Rafael
  • Total Time: 1 hour
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Description

This Stove Top Stuffing Meatloaf is a flavorful twist on classic meatloaf, combining ground beef with savory Stove Top stuffing mix to create a moist and delicious dinner option. Topped with a layer of ketchup and baked to perfection, it’s a comforting meal that’s easy to prepare and perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale

Meatloaf

  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef (80/20 or 85/15 for best flavor)
  • 1 box (6 oz) Stove Top Stuffing mix (any flavor)
  • ½ cup ketchup (plus more for topping)
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • ½ cup water
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (or 1 teaspoon garlic powder)
  • 2 large eggs, beaten

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking during baking.
  2. Prepare the Stuffing Mix: In a large bowl, combine the Stove Top Stuffing mix with whole milk and water. Let this mixture sit for about 5 minutes so the stuffing softens and absorbs the liquid.
  3. Mix the Meatloaf: Add ground beef, minced garlic, beaten eggs, and ½ cup ketchup to the softened stuffing mixture. Gently mix everything together until well combined, taking care not to overwork the meat to keep the meatloaf tender.
  4. Shape & Bake: Transfer the mixture into the prepared loaf pan and form it into a loaf shape. Spread additional ketchup evenly over the top for extra flavor and moisture. Bake in the preheated oven for 45–55 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the meatloaf reaches 160°F (71°C).
  5. Rest & Serve: Remove the meatloaf from the oven and allow it to rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing. This helps the juices redistribute and makes slicing easier. Serve with your favorite sides such as mashed potatoes or green beans.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the meat mixture to ensure a tender meatloaf.
  • Using 80/20 or 85/15 ground beef provides the best balance of flavor and moisture.
  • Letting the meatloaf rest before slicing helps retain its juices.
  • You can customize the stuffing flavor to suit your taste preference (e.g., chicken, herb & butter, savory).
  • Check internal temperature with a meat thermometer for safe doneness.
