Chicken Tetrazzini Recipe

  • Author: Rafael
  • Total Time: 55 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Description

Chicken Tetrazzini is a creamy, comforting baked pasta casserole featuring tender cooked chicken, linguini pasta, and a rich sauce made from cream of chicken soup, sour cream, and chicken broth. Topped with mozzarella and parmesan cheeses, it bakes to golden perfection, making it an ideal family meal for any night.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Sauce and Casserole

  • 1/2 cup butter (melted)
  • 2 cans (10.5 ounces each) cream of chicken soup
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth (or stock)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 chicken breasts (cooked and chopped)
  • 16 ounces linguini (cooked according to package directions)

For the Topping

  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and allow it to fully preheat while you prepare the casserole mixture.
  2. Prepare the Sauce Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, chicken broth, salt, and black pepper. Mix these ingredients thoroughly until smooth and well incorporated. Then stir in the cooked, chopped chicken until evenly coated with the sauce.
  3. Combine Pasta and Sauce: Add the cooked linguini to the sauce mixture in the bowl. Toss gently but thoroughly until the pasta is fully coated with the creamy chicken sauce.
  4. Assemble in Baking Dish: Pour the combined pasta and sauce into a 9×13 inch glass baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  5. Add Cheese Toppings: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the surface of the casserole. Follow with an even sprinkling of grated parmesan cheese on top.
  6. Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 40 minutes, or until the cheese on top is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden, and the sauce is visibly bubbling around the edges.
  7. Cool and Serve: Remove the casserole from the oven and allow it to cool slightly for a few minutes before serving to let the flavors settle and to prevent burning.

Notes

  • Cook the chicken breasts ahead of time by boiling, baking, or grilling to your preference before chopping.
  • Use freshly shredded cheese for better melting and flavor.
  • If you prefer a richer sauce, add a splash more sour cream or chicken broth.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
  • For a lower sodium option, use low-sodium chicken broth and soup.
